In a medical emergency

In the first instance, dial 000 and ask for an Ambulance. If necessary, ask the operator to request Coomba RFS attend — they can provide First Aid support. Please remember the ambulance can take up to an hour to reach Coomba.

Natural disasters & the Neighbourhood Safer Place

In the event of a fire, long blackout or natural disaster, the Neighbourhood Safer Place at Coomba Community Hall is the place of last resort. This allows access to support, power to charge phones, and water — bring your own chargers and water containers, as no catering is provided. The Community Hall now has a solar power battery system as backup.

Defibrillators (AEDs)

Four public AEDs are located around Coomba Park: Coomba Aquatic Club (Coomba Road), Coomba Community Hall (Moorooba Road), Pollard’s General Store (Kirribilli Avenue), and the bus shelter at the intersection of Shallow Bay Road & Coomba Road.
AEDs are designed to be used by virtually anyone, with little or no experience — the device will guide you through the entire procedure.

Lighting a fire

Fire permits are required from 1 September to the end of March (may be brought forward if fire danger is high). At all times of the year, notify adjoining neighbours and the local Fire Control Centre at least 24 hours before lighting any fire in the open. No fire in the open within residential/built-up areas without Council approval — all villages and towns are deemed residential. Solid fuel BBQs/campfires must be 2 metres clear of flammable material, have continuous water supply on hand, and be attended by a responsible adult at all times — not permitted during a Total Fire Ban.
